Ad Hic Ride
The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre
17:30 – 22:00
Last time forecast thunderstorms cancelled the ride - this time there aren't any forecast. Yet.
This weekend The Quantock Brewery, at Bishops Lydeard, is holding a beer festival complete with food and entertainment so the plan is to leave from The Brewhouse at 5:30 and spend some time there from about 6:30 to 9:00.
BRING LIGHTS.
Although it should be light enough to see we'll be riding back at dusk and need to be seen, and if it's cloudy it may be darker so need them anyway.

BBQ
TA4 1AS
11:00 – 15:30
Annual bbq for our members.
If you are bringing a guest select 2 'tickets' (either bbq only, or ride +BBQ)
Location :- Phillipa's house (Near Oake Manor Golf Course)
COST - £5 per head. (pay on the day)
It would be incredibly helpful if those who are offering to bring either a salad or a pudding would email me to let me know what you intend to bring. Ideally stating not only if its a pudding or a salad but also what sort it is, for example " I am bringing a Pavlova" rather than just I will bring a pudding. If you also provide a contact number I can phone to arrange collection of your pudding / salad (thereby saving you having to carry it all the way out to Oake on the bike)
Doing this will hopefully avoid five people all bringing the same pudding and me not providing any salad because I have assumed that we had five salads already!
Please note we WILL be providing drinks, meat for the BBQ, relish and bread rolls for your sausages etc so there is no need to bring any of these along with you on the day. Donations of puddings and salads will be gratefully received and a discount (off the £5 / head fee) will be negotiated as a sign of our gratitude :-)
Should you have any questions regarding the BBQ or wish to let me know what you will be bringing along to help with the festivites please do email me. My email address is:- 2rossfriend@gmail.com
Regards
Ross.
Oh and there are no mountains to climb before you can enjoy the event this year :-)

Do you remember Bakelite?
The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre
09:00 – 17:00
Please note this ride starts at 9.00am from The Brewhouse Theatre to allow for two stops.
This will be a ride of around 45 miles and there will be quite a few short hills on the way out, as we skirt the edge of the Quantock Hills on our ride to Williton and the Bakelite Museum. We should arrive late morning to enjoy a well-earned tea or coffee and cake in their Tearoom. Refreshed, we can look around the museum (cost £5) and marvel at the pre-plastic items of yesteryear.
From here, we will ride a distance of around 3 miles to Torres Cider Farm for lunch, and possibly some cider! I aim to leave by 2.30pm.
The return journey will be via Monksilver and the B3188, a much larger road than those during the morning, but with light traffic and less hills, although some are longer drags. Our route will pass through Fitzhead and Halse, aiming to arrive in Taunton at around 5.00pm.
