Back on Your Bike is a series of rides for people who are returning to cycling. The pace is gentle and we keep to quieter routes in and around Taunton.  (You should be able to ride 2 miles to participate. If you would like to join this group for the first time please contact  jonathan.cyclesomerset@mail.tidyhq.com) Please bring drink water, small snack and spare inner tube.  Waterproof is advisable. Warm layers and gloves if weather is cold. These rides are to support people getting back on their bikes and help people plan routes they would like to ride Ride leader Jonathan   Registering for an event: 1. login to Cycle Somerset ,  2. select event,   3. get tickets,    4. change 'Qty' from zero to one,   5. go to checkout     6. enter your mobile and emergency details    7.procede to ‘payment’ (tickets are free!)  8. Buyer info may be requested if you have not logged in     9.submit order - no need to print tickets.

**** Note 9:30 start time ****   To Bridgewater YMCA, moderate,via the Somerset levels and 13 bends.   Back through North Petherton and Creech Heathfield. Please note this is the ride cancelled by last week's storm.   About 40 miles, undulating with some long ascents on the way out which we will take at a leisurely pace. We will arrive at the Walled Garden Tea Room about 12:30 for lunch.   The tea room serves light lunches, cakes and scones. They have asked we pre-order pasties, sausage rolls and jacket potatoes as these are cooked fresh daily. We depart from the Brewhouse at 6pm and ride along country lanes. This week we will stop for a meal ( starter or main) at WORLDS END. BRIGHT LIGHTS, HELMET, SPARE INNER TUBE, GLOVES required. We are usually back in Taunton 9.30-10pm YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE RIDE (login to Tidy HQ, give emergency contact details, buy a 'free ticket' - a bit like internet shopping)

The ride will be around 35 – 40 miles mainly undulating without too many steep hills. We plan to arrive at The Dennis Pottery and Glassworks at around 12.00 for lunch at their wonderful tearoom serving homemade cakes and freshly prepared meals using local produce. The return ride to Taunton will include a stop at the North Curry community café for those needing extra sustenance before riding those last few miles home, arriving in Taunton around 4.00pm. TACC (Taunton Area Cycling Campaign) have asked us to publicise this and ask members to turn up and support the event.   For more details please click on THIS LINK   "Help us get more investment in cycling infrastructure in the Taunton Area. Come to a short Rally at 10.30-11.15am Saturday 29 September, wearing something blue We will be launching our new 'Turn the cycle network blue' campaign. The campaign is to try to persuade our two local councils to put forward a capital funding bid to government for  around £10m for new cycle infrastructure in the Taunton area. We have produced a 'tube map' of the local cycle network (above) to show where improvements are needed.. The blue routes are quiet and safer. We want to turn the whole network blue"
