RIDE LIMITED TO FIRST 16 RIDERS Parking & Start Hawkridge Reservoir SPAXTON. Richard (email link and phone) will lead group from reservoir. If you can carry an extra bike please let Peter know Route outline A circular route passing east through Spaxton,  along Charlinch Lane to A39. At junction dismount  to cross busy road to cycle track opposite! Along track to Cannington, follow road through centre and to N of town, pick up cycle track to Combwich. Take track through WWT Steart Marsh. TL passing WWT car park to Stockland Bristol. Beyond, TR onto main road (towards Hinkley point) for c 3/4  mile (sometimes busy but good visibility). TL to Stogursey at Claydens Corner. Through Stogursey and TL towards Nether Stowey. Over traffic lights and through Nether Stowey to join A39 at lower end of village. TR for c3/4 mile (busy at times but good visibility). TL to Paisley farm shop/cafe. Retrace access road to A39. TR and immediately L,  follow lanes via Over Stowey cricket ground, Plainsfield and  back to reservoir Note 1 Busy road to cross - recommend dismount 2 Short stretches on main roads, but good visibility 3 Usual muddy country lanes and traditional  Somerset  potholes needing extra care on bends etc. at times (c 22miles and 1050ft up including a few short sharp climbs. 3.5 hours including coffee stop at modest pace)

Old Smokey: This is a thirty mile round trip out through Creech St Michael, up Thirteen Bends (The only real hill on the ride, honest!), Stoke St Gregory, Langport, Muchelney, Drayton and on to the Smokery for a coffee stop. On return we head for Hambridge, Isle Brewers Fivehead, Curry Mallet, Rock Hill, North Curry and home. At the moment the weather looks a little unpromising so we'll make a decision on the day if we have to. All the usual advice about tubes, drinks and weather-proofing apply.  Ride Leader: Paul Harper

Bravo Braziers: We are meeting at Vivary Park for a 28 mile reverse circular route out to Stoke Road, Orchard Portman, Pitminster, Blackmoor, Rockwell Green and through to Braziers for a well earned coffee. On return we head for Nynehead, Oake (thus avoiding the muddy mayhem of Broom Lane), Allerford to Shutewater Hill and home. The weather promises to be a little chilly to start but warming up and mostly dry. All the bits and pieces to support a ride, water and something warm would be helpful. Ride Leader: Paul Harper

This is a super backstreet cafe in Chard which we have not visited much during the past few years. The ride distance is just over 41 miles, although around 11 will be on The Stopline Way path between Ilminster and Chard, which is easy riding. The outward route will be via Stoke St. Mary, Slough Green, Curland, past Broadway onto Horton to Crock Street and down to cross the A358 to join the Stopline Way to Chard, arriving at around 12.15 for brunch or coffee and cake. The return route will follow the Stopline Way to Ilminster where we rejoin the road through to Dillington House, Ilford, Isle Abbots, Curry Mallet and down Rock Hill, then onto North Curry, returning to Taunton, via 13 Bends, Ham and Creech St. Michael. Hestercombe: This is a 30 Mile reverse route to Hestercombe for coffee and cakes, going out through Monkton Heathfield, Thurloxton, Broomfield and dropping down to the house. On return we will head for Kingston, Nailsbourne and a bit of a fiddly route back to The Weir...eventually. The weather looks a bit more promising than recently, so fingers crossed. Dear Ladies Unfortunately due to very bad weather and weather warnings in force, the final ladies ride of the season to Langport last Saturday didn’t take place. However, I will have another go at leading this and hope that the weather will be kinder.     I thought it was better not to go for this coming Saturday (2nd November) as its the rugby final with England playing and I thought lots of your would want to watch that, and also its half term so maybe some of you would be away/coming home from a week away. Last Ladies' Ride: Unfortunately the weather forecast is now 100% chance of rain for tomorrow, Saturday 9th November - so this will now be an Ad Hoc ride. Anyone wishing to turn up at the Brewhouse for 10am can decide whether and where to ride. I wont be there if it is raining!
