PARKING & START (leaving 09.45 from Hawkridge Reservoir Parking/Layby, Lawyers Hill, Spaxton).  (Access from Taunton via Kingston St Mary, Buncombe Hill, down Three Horseshoes Hill (LHS of Pines Cafe) via  Lower Aisholt & TR onto Lawyers Hill  to reservoir). ROUTE A circular route passing through Spaxton,  Cannington, Combwich, Stockland Bristol, Stogursey and Nether Stowey to Paisley Farm shop/cafe. Return to cars via Plainsfield. REFRESHMENTS  We aim to arrive at Paisley Farm shop/cafe  c11.30  to 11.45 with options for lunch or coffee/cake. NOTE  We will be using short stretches of the A39 and the Hinkley Road which can be busy. Visibility is good on these stretches, but we will need to divide the group depending on numbers. At one point it will be necessary to dismount  to walk across the A39 to a cycle track opposite. Welly Wobble: This is a ride to Braziers via the hills beyond Wellington. It is a hilly ride out to Langford Budville, Wellesford, Higher Greenham, Holywell and Tonedale for a coffee. On return we visit Nynehead to Bradford-on-Tone, Bishop's Hull and home (32 Miles). The weather is promising to be variable less than 20% chance of rain early more likely later! Don't forget to check your bike you leave and make sure you have a spare inner tube that fits your wheel size! Ride Leader: Hazel

Skittle Allez: Because the weather looks dodgy (especially the lingering strong wind and showers prediction) the intention is to do a loop of Taunton whilst keeping fairly sheltered (25 miles). We are meeting in Vivary Park, heading out for Stoke St Mary, Pitminster, West Buckland, Bradford-on-Tone, Norton Fitzwarren, where we pause at a new, for us, coffee stop, "Skittles". On return we head for Fitzroy, Kingston, Lyngford and home. Look out for the 28th April posting when we intend to double-up with our Coach friends to have afternoon tea (about 12.30 pm) at the Quantock Restaurant. Menu available this Tuesday. Sue will be leading us to Daisy's Tearooms, Bishops Lydeard, going out through Bishop's Hull, Hillfarance, Oake and Halse and returning home via Lyngford Road. All in all approx. 19 miles. At the moment the biggest weather threat is the possibility of strong winds from Storm Ciara but we will have to wait until Tuesday to see what we get. On the first Wednesday of each month Cycle Somerset has an evening meeting to discuss rides/ socials/ topical issues. All are welcome. The meeting will be upstairs at The HUBBOX (opposite Debenhams). (Unlike September meeting there is no birthday party booked!)    

Nationwide ebikes are kindly showing us what is the latest technology of ebikes. In Europe ebikes are viewed with a different perspective - increasing range of cycling, sensible for commuting and an eco alternative to cars.    

Kakestop@Kelways: With the weather looking up, here is our chance to do a previously planned ride to Kelways in Langport. We will head out through Creech, up Thirteen Bends, North Curry, Stoke St Gregory and the usual route out to Langport and Kelways. On return we will head for Muchelney, Drayton, Hambridge, Fivehead, Rock Hill, North Curry and home. Apart from the Bends, the route is relatively kind in terms of hills (34 miles). The weather is currently promising to be dry, sunny at times and dry. All the usual advice about preparation applies!  Ride Leader: Paul Harper

 We will take a gentle ride out to The Country Kitchen, Middlezoy or failing that The Lemon Tree, Stoke St Gregory via 13 bends (it has to be done), Stoke St Gregory &  Burrowbridge and returning via Athelney & Mear Green. About 26 miles and 276 metres of ascent. Weather forecast is for a light shower day, with 50 - 60% chance of rain and wind WSW 17 miles per hour and possibly a bit of sun. Thats the good news. It will be  very cold feeling like 0-1C. Think we've been here before! Wrap up warm and bring the usual kit and don't be suprised if we end up in The Weir again. Our third attempt to sample the coffee at Brazier in Wellington. Paul & Maeve supported by Tony will lead us through the Somerset lanes to our destination.
